Immerse in an ECO-Tour and Experience Southwest Florida Islands by Boat

“Captain Brian Holaway is well versed in the intricacies of our unmatched locale. He can guide to and through a multitude of out-of-the way tidal creeks, bayous, keys and islands. More important is his passionate interest and respect for the region. With unique insights from his many explorations and his studies, not only does he identify the birds and wildlife that inhabit our semi-tropical watery land, but he explains their interconnectedness to their environment and each other. In addition, he shares the fascinating history of rugged people who came long before us: Florida Native Indians, the Calusa, the Spanish, the Cubans, early homesteaders, and the wisdom evident in the growth of their culture.

You will come away with great enjoyment and a new understanding of this beautiful place and its history.”

Florida Master Naturalist Class Underway

Yesterday was the first day of my final series of classes to complete the Florida Master Naturalist Program.   To obtain this certification three modules must be completed.  I have completed Coastal Systems, Wetlands and now working on the Uplands Module.  I know the least about the uplands and learned a lot the first day.  I am looking forward to the remaining five classes which meet all day every Saturday for five weeks.  My final project for this class will include an Uplands Plant Field Guide.  Here is a sample of plants from day 1, now I need to i.d. each plant.  I look forward to letting you know when I have officially completed this certfication.

How cool -- I am envious but I also admire your ability to do the hard work involved. Great photos, and I don't know what a single one of those plants is!

What an interesting program. All that knowledge must really be useful in your capacity as a guide as well. Your trip clients will really benefit from that. I can't wait for our next trip out with you!
