Immerse in an ECO-Tour and Experience Southwest Florida Islands by Boat

“Captain Brian Holaway is well versed in the intricacies of our unmatched locale. He can guide to and through a multitude of out-of-the way tidal creeks, bayous, keys and islands. More important is his passionate interest and respect for the region. With unique insights from his many explorations and his studies, not only does he identify the birds and wildlife that inhabit our semi-tropical watery land, but he explains their interconnectedness to their environment and each other. In addition, he shares the fascinating history of rugged people who came long before us: Florida Native Indians, the Calusa, the Spanish, the Cubans, early homesteaders, and the wisdom evident in the growth of their culture.

You will come away with great enjoyment and a new understanding of this beautiful place and its history.”

Shelling With Beth And Russell

I enjoyed shelling with the humorous Russell and veteran sheller Beth.  Beth has excellent shelling eyes. She found an interesting formation of the fighting conch (Second photo from the top). Much to my surprise and hers, she found a piece of a deer cowrie. WOW, this is only the second piece of deer cowrie I have seen in 18 years. (The first was by my Cayo buddy Carolyn, this summer.)  Beth also spotted this beautiful horse conch. It was one of those days when you could have just kept walking the beach and looking all day. Great finds! Hope to see you again in a couple of months.

Those are some great finds! I like seeing people finding the "different" stuff, the not so common and unusual!

The ocean provides a lot of unique gems!!

Thanks for sharing these great photos! Love the cybershelling. I see several rice olives and good-sized barnacles. Is the white shell in another photo a double bi-valve? I'm curious if Beth found the horse conch in the water or on shore. It's awesome... looks like it has very few breaks or chips, if any! Good for her!

Janet from IL, the white shell is a double or complete bi-valve. It was a great find. The name of the shell is a crested tellin,(Very Rare) Beth found the horse conch in the tideline on the beach. We were in a remote area with no one else around. It was a good day of shelling.

Hey Brian

Just wanted to thank you again for the great trip. We are now back to reality--I much prefer Sanibel/Captiva! We will certainly be in touch next time we are heading south.
PS Found a real nice alphabet cone on the day before we left
