Immerse in an ECO-Tour and Experience Southwest Florida Islands by Boat

“Captain Brian Holaway is well versed in the intricacies of our unmatched locale. He can guide to and through a multitude of out-of-the way tidal creeks, bayous, keys and islands. More important is his passionate interest and respect for the region. With unique insights from his many explorations and his studies, not only does he identify the birds and wildlife that inhabit our semi-tropical watery land, but he explains their interconnectedness to their environment and each other. In addition, he shares the fascinating history of rugged people who came long before us: Florida Native Indians, the Calusa, the Spanish, the Cubans, early homesteaders, and the wisdom evident in the growth of their culture.

You will come away with great enjoyment and a new understanding of this beautiful place and its history.”

Sanibel Sunset

Sometimes it is just nice to sit and watch the sunset.  Like Shel Silverstein wrote'' This is where the sidewalk ends."

More from the 74th Annual Sanibel Shell Fair

I thought I would post more photos from the Sanibel Shell Fair. Some of the top shell artists in the world were there this week. One of the best shell artists, Sandy Moran, known  for her sailor valentines was there as well. The pocket watches are a favorite of mine. I hope you enjoy the photos. Next year I plan on entering an Alphabet Cone I found on a remote beach in the Florida Everglades.

Sanibel Shell Fair

Today I went to the 74th annual shell fair on Sanibel.  WOW!  Every one should go. There are shellers from all over the world. I talked with Pam of I love shelling and Sandy Moran. What a great day!  Wow.  I learned alot especially about fossil shells.

Four Legged Starfish

On the first day of March, a happy, enthusiastic and energetic lady from Illinois snorkeled past me.  She stopped swimming and held out a four legged starfish. Wow! I had never seen a "Four legged starfish". Sometimes the five legged starfish lose a leg and grow a new one back, but not this one.  It was a true four legged starfish. We both took pictures of this unique sea creature and then she put it back where it came from, the sea. Very cool.

The landscapes and colors today on Cayo Costa were tantalizing.  I was fortunate to find a unique worm shell and the ever welcomed baby's ear. The wind was out of the south.

Early Spring

Water temp 71 degrees, windchill 82 degrees. Spring has sprung. The water on the out Islands is crystal clear. It looks and feels like May. I am looking forward to the time change in a couple of weeks, this means more time on the water in the daylight.
