Immerse in an ECO-Tour and Experience Southwest Florida Islands by Boat

“Captain Brian Holaway is well versed in the intricacies of our unmatched locale. He can guide to and through a multitude of out-of-the way tidal creeks, bayous, keys and islands. More important is his passionate interest and respect for the region. With unique insights from his many explorations and his studies, not only does he identify the birds and wildlife that inhabit our semi-tropical watery land, but he explains their interconnectedness to their environment and each other. In addition, he shares the fascinating history of rugged people who came long before us: Florida Native Indians, the Calusa, the Spanish, the Cubans, early homesteaders, and the wisdom evident in the growth of their culture.

You will come away with great enjoyment and a new understanding of this beautiful place and its history.”

Last Light At Cayo

The last light on Cayo tonight was beautiful. I was happy to be there and observe the light through my camera.

Photos

Here are a few more photos of the 400 I took a few days ago. I look forward to taking more photos tomorrow at a new location in Florida that I have heard a lot about. This time I will have to travel by truck. I look forward to the land adventure. But look more forward to returning to the Island that I already miss, Cayo Costa.

Photography And Exploring The Back Country

I enjoyed the company of Manny and Margaret exploring in the back country. Manny has been a photographer for many years. We no sooner left the marina when a large pod of dolphin appeared. I put the boat in neutral and we watched the dolphin behind the lens of our cameras. Manny, Margaret and myself took many photos of the dolphin. It was amazing. We traveled to the back country and took photos of many birds and collected shells. Margaret found worm shells and enjoyed watching the live shells.  After our adventure in the back country we walked a beautiful stretch of beach. We
re-anchored in the Gulf far from people, enjoyed lunch, cloud viewing, listening to the waves and good conversation.

Porthole To The Future

Jason Boland sang about the clouds somewhere down in Texas as I took over 400 photos of  my favorite spot. The clouds and wind dictate the shot and how it appears on the landscape. Here is one that I really like.

Early Morning Shelling

The morning started early with Morgan and her husband Chad. We were on the Island before the sun came up. They took advantage of the negative low tide, walking miles before the sun appeared. Morgan has been a sheller for over 20 years. She has a keen eye and appreciates a good shell when she finds one. I enjoyed listening to her stories of "Old Captiva". On the way back to the marina we observed four pods of dolphin. One of the pods I had never seen before. It was all very exciting. We took many photos of the dolphin. This trip time seemed to fly by at a rapid pace. I look forward to our next adventure.

Family Fun With Capt. Brian

The weather and water were perfect for a family outing. Neil, Kim, Alaina, Benjamin, and Charlie went exploring with me to one of of favorite spots. The kids asked great questions and Alaina was very good at shell identification. We saw dolphins, manatee,  live whelks and fighting conchs. The kids collected sand dollars and a cool coconut that was floating in the water. A fun time was had by all.  We all enjoyed the water, dolphins, manatee, and the crystal clear water.
