Immerse in an ECO-Tour and Experience Southwest Florida Islands by Boat

“Captain Brian Holaway is well versed in the intricacies of our unmatched locale. He can guide to and through a multitude of out-of-the way tidal creeks, bayous, keys and islands. More important is his passionate interest and respect for the region. With unique insights from his many explorations and his studies, not only does he identify the birds and wildlife that inhabit our semi-tropical watery land, but he explains their interconnectedness to their environment and each other. In addition, he shares the fascinating history of rugged people who came long before us: Florida Native Indians, the Calusa, the Spanish, the Cubans, early homesteaders, and the wisdom evident in the growth of their culture.

You will come away with great enjoyment and a new understanding of this beautiful place and its history.”

Shelling Walk And Talk With Fred And Polly

What a fun time with Fred and Polly. Fred found a beautiful worm shell just a few feet from where we anchored the boat. Polly really liked the jingle shells. Polly noticed a large horse conch close to the shoreline. It was live so we took a picture and put it back where it was. I enjoyed showing both Fred and Polly how to find rice shells. There shelling eyes got better as the day went on. We also found two crested tellins. I liked the picture of Polly holding it up with the blue sky as a background.

Margaret And Crew

Margaret, Pam, Patti and Cathy went shelling with me in two different secret spots. Margaret is a mover and a shaker when it comes to shelling. She was leading the pack. Last year I took Margaret and her husband Manny out. What a great guy! This year it was Margaret and three of her friends. Margaret found a beautiful piece of junonia and an excellent lace murex. I enjoyed walking and talking with the ladies at secret spot number 3. We found many sandollars and one of the ladies found a stunning albino fighting conch. She told me I should have it because I had found so many treasures for her . Well you know me and albinos, I was very pleased to add this shell to my collection. It is the only one of this kind that I have in my collection.  It was a fun day on the water and the weather was in our favor.  Thank you Margaret and crew.
P.S.  Tell Manny I say hi.

The Johnson Family without Melissa Continued

The Johnson trip continues... I took over 500 photos on this trip. The morning sky and light on the beach were inspiring. The shelling was exciting. We found a scotch bonnet, a large horse conch, an excellent alphabet cone, sand dollars and the largest piece of coral I have ever found on the beach. (It found a nice home on my back porch) After six hours of walking the beach we went once again to the delicious Tarpon Lodge.  The morning was beautiful and the afternoon even better. Thank you Brian and Nancy for another fun time shelling and exploring.

The Johnson Family without Melissa Take Two

Brian and Nancy went out for another exploring trip. The seas were a bit rough when we left the marina. Once we were on the gulf, the seas calmed. We went to secret spot 11 then favorite spot number one. We walked for miles, ( did I say miles) We started the day at 6:45 am and got back to the dock at 4:00. My feet still hurt. But it was worth it. Nancy found a beautiful Whelk. We observed bobcat tracks, a stellar sunrise and...... to be continued

The Johnson Family Once Again

Brian, Nancy and Melissa have been long time clients. They are like family. We go out every year around Thanksgiving. I look forward to this trip every year. Melissa is a great photographer and enjoys taking pictures of the birds and wildlife. Brian has a good shelling eye that seems to get better every year. Nancy is always fun to walk and talk with on the beach. She enjoys hearing about all my close calls and my boating follies of the year. I enjoy hearing her laugh. We went to a new spot they had never been to before. It was peaceful and empty of people. Next it was time for lunch at the wonderful Tarpon Lodge. The food was delicious and the service excellent. We made one more stop on the way back to Captiva at secret spot no number.
Thank you again to the Johnson Family for many years of fun times!
(Melissa I will see you in a few months)
