The October light for taking photos has kept my camera busy. I was extremely happy to watch the sunset between Cayo Costa and North Captiva. The green channel markers are from a Marina I traveled out of for over 10 years on Captiva. The light was great for photos and the double crested cormorant felt like posing.
You never know what you will find on the beach. Everyday is a new expedition. I have been exploring some remote spots on Cayo Costa Island this month. This week lettered olives shells were found and a unique Florida fighting conch. I about fell over when I discovered this worm shell in the photo above. This particular worm shell is the thickest I have ever found. The Pacific worm shells in Panama were thick but this one was rare indeed. Not knowing what you will find is the beauty of the beach. 
Fall is in the air in Southwest Florida. Many species of migrating hawks flew over Cayo Costa early this morning. The winter resident pair of bald eagles arrived today. Mullet fish were cruising the beach in huge schools. Ospreys tormented the bald eagles. White ibis casually walked on the edge of the shoreline. I followed close behind observing nature unfold in front of me as I walked into the Southwest Florida fall air.
The day before the fall equinox I traveled to Cayo Costa Island two hours before sunrise under the big dipper. The moon slid over the water as I watched night become day. The morning light was inspiring for taking photos. Here are a few of the 200 photos I took.
