Immerse in an ECO-Tour and Experience Southwest Florida Islands by Boat

“Captain Brian Holaway is well versed in the intricacies of our unmatched locale. He can guide to and through a multitude of out-of-the way tidal creeks, bayous, keys and islands. More important is his passionate interest and respect for the region. With unique insights from his many explorations and his studies, not only does he identify the birds and wildlife that inhabit our semi-tropical watery land, but he explains their interconnectedness to their environment and each other. In addition, he shares the fascinating history of rugged people who came long before us: Florida Native Indians, the Calusa, the Spanish, the Cubans, early homesteaders, and the wisdom evident in the growth of their culture.

You will come away with great enjoyment and a new understanding of this beautiful place and its history.”

Capt. Brian's Shelling Finds Today

Great finds today at the Goodwill Bookstore! First I saw one shelling book, then another, then another and another. I bought all they had in the store. Two books were by Tucker Abbott. It was a great day for shelling books. I also had to throw in a picture of one of my favorite shelling books, Capt. Mike Fuery's Shelling Guide. Mike is a great writer and I enjoy his writing from a guide's perspective. His book to me is an island classic. It was printed in 1982 and is hard to come by, like the elusive junonia, but with enough searching... you may find one.

Wow! Nice haul. That's the first shelf I head to in the Goodwill bookstore is the Florida section for shell books. I have Capt Mike's book. It was the first one I ever bought full price but I love the stories he tells although he is a little skimpy on location details.

I'm going to have to check out some Goodwill stores next time - I'd like to get my hands on a copy of that Capt. Mike book too.

If you google Capt Mike's book you will see there are two copies out there being sold. One copy is $35 plus $3.99 s&h. Sold by a random person. The second available copy to purchase is through amazon.com at a whopping $210.00!!!!!

So Id say goodwill was a great and smart place to go for treasure hunting!!!! Lol...

I have found some really good stuff at thrift stores and good will specifically to include many shelling books. I love popping into these stores!!
