Capt. Brian Completes Wilderness First Aid
Today I completed CPR and First Aid training. The instructor was superb. He focused on wilderness first aid and what to do when things happen on the water. He had a vast knowledge on different situations and offered new techniques for handling those situations. I learned a lot from this class. I look forward to adding new items to my wilderness first aid kit.

Shelling With Chuck And Mayda
Chuck and Mayda are experienced shellers. We covered a lot of beach in four hours. The trip started at favorite spot number one. We all enjoyed walking and searching this isolated stretch of beach. Next we traveled to secret spot thirteen. They found many smaller shells that were in great condition. The favorite find of the day was a beautiful alphabet cone. Great finds Chuck and Mayda!

Hurricane Sandy
I just wanted to send a shout out to my friends in the north east. Sandy is bearing down your way. Looks like it is going to be a real humdinger. Be safe and do what you have to do.

Crested Tellin Day With Gary And Kris
Two avid shellers from the great state of Nebraska (now living in Louisville) traveled with me to secret spot number two. Gary started finding fighting conchs that were in excellent condition. Kris likes lightning whelks and she found some beautiful ones. Kris also found a very large rice shell. (Nice find Kris) The gems of the day were two crested tellins. We also found babies ears and tusks. Both Gary and Kris have good shelling eyes. Gary emailed me later to tell me he found two more crested tellins where he was staying on Sanibel. It was a day of great finds! Thanks for a fun day of shelling!

Ladies Day Out Shelling
The weather was perfect and the shelling was good. Cindy, Pam, Jan, Bid, and Mary had a blast! I enjoyed showing veteran sheller Cindy new techniques to look at the rack line and find babies ears. Pam loved finding sand dollars. Mary enjoyed riding shotgun, listening to my stories and just being out on the water. I enjoyed the calm seas and a beautiful day at my favorite place. Thank you ladies for a great day on the water!

Fun With Kristen, Judi and Dorinda
I enjoyed the company of Kristen, Judi, and Dorinda on a shelling outing to secret spot number three. Kristen and Judi were veteran shellers. Dorinda was a first time sheller and had a blast. She enjoyed finding sand dollars and fighting conchs. Judi uses some of the shells for crafts. Kristen is a good sheller with a good eye for finding sun ray venus. We were excited to find a zig zag scallop (Flat shell). A new shell pile had emerged north of secret spot number three while I was sleeping. Because it was not there 14 hours earlier. This shell pile was over a foot deep and Kristen and I covered every inch. Many olives were found. Kristen was helpful in many ways on this trip. She reminded me that I left my camera back at secret spot number three. I had set it down to wade out to the boat and she noticed it when I was pulling the bow anchor. She even drove the boat while I put down the spray hood. Thank you Kristen, Judi and Dorinda for a fun trip.
