Immerse in an ECO-Tour and Experience Southwest Florida Islands by Boat

“Captain Brian Holaway is well versed in the intricacies of our unmatched locale. He can guide to and through a multitude of out-of-the way tidal creeks, bayous, keys and islands. More important is his passionate interest and respect for the region. With unique insights from his many explorations and his studies, not only does he identify the birds and wildlife that inhabit our semi-tropical watery land, but he explains their interconnectedness to their environment and each other. In addition, he shares the fascinating history of rugged people who came long before us: Florida Native Indians, the Calusa, the Spanish, the Cubans, early homesteaders, and the wisdom evident in the growth of their culture.

You will come away with great enjoyment and a new understanding of this beautiful place and its history.”

Into The Mystic With Caryn and Elizabeth

We left the dock in the fog and returned in the fog. The compass did its job but it was Van Morrison that lead us out of the marina and brought us back. Caryn and Elizabeth chartered the boat for the day and what a day it was. We covered miles of beach in the on and off again fog. Strangely enough in the fog, the water was very clear. We took advantage of this and walked the shallow waters looking for shells in the back country. I pushed the boat as we walked. The birds were hunkered down in the fog. We saw great egrets, snowy egrets and the rare reddish egret. We also witnessed an osprey on the beach with a sheepshead fish in its talons. The birds seemed to be acting different in the fog. When the fog lifted a little we headed to a local island outpost for a delicious lunch. Then it was back to the beach for more shelling. Caryn found a nice scotch bonnet, a britle star, kings crowns and they both found zig zag scallops.
It was a great day of exploring.....Into the Mystic. Thanks Van.

What a great trip! Wonderful photos!! I love the pics of your boat and the osprey photos are amazing. Seeing him on the ground with his catch is really something. Melissa would have gone crazy with her camera :-) I had Van and Into the Mystic and Moondance rocking the truck on the way to work - it helped me forget this frigid place for a bit - thanks!!!

Beautiful day's journey! (And fab song choice :)!)You show on your blog the area in the way so many others miss - all the natural beauty in all it's depth and glory. You were the captain on our little morning cruise to Cayo Costa on our most recent trip a few weeks ago and we will definitely be chartering with you personally next time we are down! We always go to Cayo Costa for at least a day trip, but I think you can do even better! Can't wait to share these pics with my son and husband this afternoon. Thanks for the bits of vicarious bliss!
